INKSPOT NEWS - June 15, 2013

Today, Saturday, June 15th, Beth Groundwater will sign copies of her Fatal Descent release twice during the FIBArk (First in Boating on the Arkansas) whitewater festival in Salida, Colorado. The first signing will happen after the parade from 10:30 AM - Noon at The Book Haven bookstore, 128 F Street, Salida, CO 81201. The second will take place in front of the Boathouse Cantina restaurant across the street from the festival grounds from 1:30 - 4:00 PM. Fatal Descent is the third book in Beth's RM Outdoor Adventures mystery series, and the first book, Deadly Currents, takes place during FIBArk. Also, Beth was the FIBArk parade VIP guest in 2011.

Sunday, June 16th, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM Beth Groundwater will sign copies of her Fatal Descent release at the Breckenridge Welcome Center, 203 South Main Street, Breckenridge, CO 80424 during the Breckenridge Kingdom Days Sidewalk Sale. The signing will take place right after the Outhouse Races end.

Thursday, June 20th, at 7:30 AM MST, Beth Groundwater will appear on the Tron Simpson show, 1040 AM in the CO, NM, KS broadcast area and on-line at i25talk.com. Tron will give away a signed copy of her Fatal Descent release to one listener.

Thursday, June 20th, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, Beth Groundwater will sign copies of her Fatal Descent release at the Covered Treasures Bookstore, 105 Second Street, Monument, CO 80132 during Monument's June Art Walk event.

Friday, June 21st from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Beth Groundwater will sign copies of her Fatal Descent release at Black Cat Books inside the Business of Art Center, 513 Manitou Avenue, Manitou Springs, CO 80829. This will be a wine and cheese event!

Also on Saturday, April 20th, Deborah Sharp will be among dozens of authors scheduled to take part in the 15th Annual Southern Kentucky Bookfest in Bowling Green. Deborah's mystery panel is slotted for 1:45 pm in the Carroll Knicely Conference Center, 654 Campbell Lane, Bowling Green, KY 42101. The event is a fundraiser to promote literacy in the region.

This weekend, a plethora of Midnight Ink authors have descended on Colorado Springs, Colorado, for the Left Coast Crime 2013 conference. Three Midnight Ink books have been nominated for awards at the conference, as shown below:

The Lefty has been awarded for the best humorous mystery novel since 1996, and Midnight Ink author Jess Lourey's December Dread mystery is one of six nominees.

The Rocky, for the best mystery novel set in the Left Coast Crime Geographical Region, was first awarded in 2004 and two Midnight Ink authors have nominated books: Beth Groundwater's Wicked Eddies and Darrell James' Sonora Crossing.

The Bruce Alexander Memorial Award for best historical mystery began in 2004. New Midnight Ink author, Catriona McPherson is nominated for her Minotaur release Dandy Gilver and An Unsuitable Day for a Murder.

Midnight Ink authors are appearing on panels and at other special events throughout the conference. If you are attending, please stop by the following events today and tomorrow:

Author Sheila Webster Boneham's online event,  Drop Dead for Healthy Dogs, a virtual book signing to launch Drop Dead on Recall, continues through Thursday, October 11. A portion of all sales through this event go to support canine health research.

Sheila will be reading from Drop Dead on Recall, answering questions, and signing books in person at Pomegranate Books in Wilmington, NC, at 7 p.m., October 11, to bring Drop Dead for Healthy Dogs to a close. Hope to see you online or at Pomegranate!

This afternoon, Beth Groundwater will be on a "Fooling the Reader Fairly" panel at the Pikes Peak Writers Conference at the Colorado Springs Marriott Hotel, 5580 Tech Center Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80919. Following the panel, she'll sign copies of her books in the conference bookstore.

On Sunday, April 22nd from 1-3 PM, Jennifer Harlow and Alan Orloff, among others, will be reading from their latest novels at Kensington Celebrates The International Day of the Book. 3786 Howard Ave, Kensington MD.

On Wednesday, April 25th from 5:30 – 8:30 PM, Beth Groundwater will dine with the Chesapeake Bay Writers and talk about "Series Writing for the Organizationally Challenged" at the Rivers Inn Restaurant, 8106 Yacht Haven Rd, Gloucester Point, VA 23062. She will autograph copies of her books afterward.

From Friday through Sunday, April 27-29, a number of Midnight Ink authors will appear at the Malice Domestic Conference at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, One Bethesda Metro Center (7400 Wisconsin Ave.), Bethesda, MD 20814. Robin Allen will attend the American Library Association's Midwinter Meeting in Dallas, TX, January 20-22, 2012. Robin will spend Saturday (1/21) at the PopUp Stage for Mystery Day at ALA, and will participate in the first panel, "Don't Mess with Texas Authors" from 9:00AM-9:45AM. On Sunday (1/22), Robin will be signing books in the Midnight Ink booth from 9:15AM-10:15AM.

Also at the American Library Association's Midwinter Meeting in Dallas, TX, Midnight Ink will be holding a drawing for signed copies of Lois Winston's Assault With a Deadly Glue Gun and Death By Killer Mop Doll, as well as the handcrafted mop doll shown in the photo. Stop by the Midnight Ink booth (#1459) on January 20th to register. The drawing will take place at 7pm during the opening reception.
