HAPPY LABOR DAY!

Don't even think about working this weekend, that's what Labor Day is all about, to give a rest to us laborers who are on duty 24/7 what with the proposals, the revisions, the rewrites and the copy-edits. And don't get me started on the promotion, the book-signings, the coast-to-coast tours, the TV appearances. Not this weekend.
Instead I'll be serving nachos and burgers to the hordes of consumers who come to our mountain community this weekend to buy arts and crafts which then supports our little 3-room schoolhouse, our volunteer fire department and the network of hiking trails we all use.
In between serving the ever-popular chili dogs I plan to read other people's books like book 2 in the Stieg Larsson trilogy and for my book club - THE COOKBOOK COLLECTOR.
Tell me I'm not the only one who's not working this weekend, who's not polishing the final chapters of the book that never ends. Hope you all get a break from the daily grind and honor the day - it's a testimonial to our "social and economic (and literary) achievements."

Of the 3 day weekend, I carved out one day when there will be NO WRITING, PROMOTION, ETC. That's Sunday. Instead, I'll be at a spa with my BFF for the entire day being pampered, sitting in the sun and enjoying mud baths and mineral pools. Susan said if I bring my Alpha Smart, she'll break it. :)

Everyone enjoy their NON-labor Labor Day.

Carol, Have fun with The Cookbook Collector. I introduced Allegra at a local bookstore. She's funny, charming, brilliant, and incredibly talented.

Work this weekend? Yep. I am signing books tomorrow and working on taxes either on Sunday or Monday. No manuscript to work on though. Waiting to hear what my agent thinks about draft 2 before I get going on draft 3.

HLD to you!

I'm planning to sit by the lake and read this weekend. Will add The Cookbook Collector to my list of books to check out.

Happy Labor Day!

I'm afraid I'll be working this weekend, but partly because my husband and I are heading north for three days next week, and I am determined to get as much done now as I can so I can take at least one of those completely off! (Maybe even two!) Have a great time at the festival, Carol.

I have a feeling I'm going to be doing some work this weekend! But my deadline is getting uncomfortably close, so...I sort of put myself in the jam!

Okay, you're making me feel really, really guilty, Carol. Threeday weekends tend to look like a gift to me. A chance to write without the phone ringing or the slog of emails clammering to be attended to. I plan to cram in as much writing this weekend as I can. But I do plan to do an evening on the patio Sunday night with family over. Sorry, I've always been something of a workaholic.

I'm already enjoying three days without overtime, yahoo! And I will be "working" on Book 2--which isn't working because I love it--in between steaming clams and making potato salad. Enjoy the weekend, everyone.

Unfortunately, I'll be working part of the weekend, too. Tomorrow, I'm scouting a location I plan to use in my WiP with my husband, but we'll combine it with an early bike ride on the trails in the area for exercise. In the afternoon, I'll be writing, to make my goal for the week--I have half a chapter or 1 scene to go. We're dining out with friends that night, so life won't be so tough tomorrow.

Sunday will be a day of rest (from writing but not household chores!), but Monday I'll be writing again because next Friday won't be a writing day. I'll be at the Colorado Gold conference next Fri-Sun. So, I need to meet my week writing goal in the 4 days Mon-Thu.

Ah, alas, I have been babysitting my three year old grandson for five days. My blogging life has suffered along with my writing life. I will be working on my book, short story and critiquing a friends first chapter. But this doesn't feel like work at this point.

I thought Labor Day was for all of the mothers of the world who brought children into the world.

*just kidding*

Does going to a party at the yacht club and talking about your book to half a dozen people count as work?

Nope, I didn't think so either...

Have a nice weekend all!

So much good stuff going on -
I'm particularly envious of anyone who's having such a good time writing it doesn't even seem like work, and those clams! Yum. I also wish a half dozen people would listen to me talk about my book. Just one or two would make me happy.

I'm working, alas. Real, sit-at-the-keyboard work.
